Dear TAA Chapter
Presidents:
TAA-USA has received the following letter from Dr.
Larry Gerstein, President of International Tibet
Independence Movement. The annual walk from Boston
(7/30) to New York (8/13) signifies the perseverance
and determination of the Tibetan people fighting for
independence of their beautiful homeland. Besides
our participation, they need our help with funds.
You can help by contributing any amount of money.
Your donations are tax deductible and can be made
through TAA-USA by sending in your checks payable to
TAA-USA and mention "for Tibet Walk", then mail to:
TAA-USA, P.O. Box 4342, Troy, Michigan 48099, c/o
Treasurer Anna Chang.
Or, if you like, you may send your contribution
payable to ITIM and mail directly to:
International Tibet Independence Movement
P.O. Box 592
Fishers, IN 46038-0592 United States
Please show our support to
this meaningful cause. We know that both Tibetans
and Taiwanese are on the right side of the justice,
fighting against a common evil. We shall prevail!
PLEASE SEND IN YOUR
DONATION BY 7/30.
Thank you very much for your support.
Susan Chang, President, TAA-USA

Tibet's
Independence March Needs Your Financial Support! |
Great to hear about the support of the TAA-Boston.
Over the years, we have worked closely with the TAA on
our walks and bike rides. We strongly support an
independent Taiwan and appreciate your support for
Tibet's independence. Attached is the schedule for the
walk including the time and location of the
demonstration on July 30. We welcome a speaker from your
organization at this demonstration and in NY. Also, we
welcome the participation of your members to walk with
us ANY AMOUNT of TIME! I will send you the press release
in the next week and I would appreciate it if you could
send it to the Taiwanese and PRC media.
Also, we need help with funds. Our estimated budget is
between $12,000 to $14,000. This includes, for example,
airfares ($2000), rental of a 12-person van ($2000),
fuel (around $1500), food (around $1500; this is figured
on a core group of around 10 walkers), telephone
(additional minutes on cell phones), copying of
educational materials, postage, supplies (e.g., forks,
plates, cups, foot creams. walk signs), etc. Thus, far,
we have raised little money.
We respectfully ask that your organization contribute
some funds to help pay for this walk. ITIM is a
volunteer organization. No one is paid. We have little
money in our bank account and depend on donations to pay
for projects such as this walk. As in the past, all
expenses and a list of donors will be posted to our
website at the conclusion of the walk. Here are some
possible ways you can contribute:
1. Sponsor a walker. We estimate that it will cost about
$400 to sponsor a walker. This includes, for instance,
the cost of renting a van, fuel, food, and other living
expenses.
2. Sponsor meals for the walkers each day ($10 per
walker or $100 for all the walkers each day).
3. Contribute $5 for each day of the walk ($75 total).
4. Contribute $1 (U.S. currency) for each mile of the
walk or $240 (240 miles) to cover all the miles!
5. Contribute any other amount of money your
organization can afford!
If your organization is willing to make a financial
donation, make checks payable to ITIM which is a 501(c)3
not for profit organization. Donations are tax
deductible to the extent permitted by U.S. law.
Send Financial Contributions to:

Thanks again for your support. To learn more about this
walk visit, www.rangzen.org. I also would like to invite
you and your members to a pot luck dinner that will be
held the evening of July 30 in Medford.
